We are delighted to provide you with the latest updates in the world of international trade and e-waste management. As part of our commitment to keeping you informed, we bring you the key highlights of the E-waste Management Second Amendment Rules, 2022, dated 24.07.2023, which hold significance for businesses in the EXIM community.

Refrigerant Management Responsibilities:

At Andees, we understand the importance of environmental responsibility. The E-waste Management Second Amendment Rules now place additional responsibilities on manufacturers, refurbishes, and recyclers to ensure the secure, accountable, and sustainable management of refrigerants used in the manufacture of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. Compliance with the guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board is vital in achieving this objective. By adopting approved destruction technologies, we contribute to protecting the environment and ensuring compliance with the latest regulations.

EPR Certificate Grant for Recyclers:

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is gaining traction as a key mechanism to promote sustainable practices in waste management. In the context of the latest amendment rules, we are pleased to inform you about the changes to EPR certificate generation for recyclers. The conversion factor will now be determined as per the guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board, with the approval of the Steering Committee. This ensures transparency and efficiency in the recycling process and encourages recyclers to align with the latest guidelines.

RoHS Compliance for E-waste Generating Items:

Environmental consciousness is at the core of responsible e-waste management. The amendment rules have classified the list of E-waste generating items into two parts: the old list and the new list of items. Currently, RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliance applies to the previous list of E-waste equipment and spares under the E-waste management rules of 2016. From 1st April 2025, RoHS compliance will extend to new E-waste generating items under the current rules. Additionally, from 1st April 2028, it will also apply to their spares. Our commitment to RoHS compliance ensures environmentally sound disposal and recycling of electronic waste, encompassing a broader range of items.

At Andees, we believe in staying up-to-date with the latest regulatory changes and providing our clients with valuable insights. Our goal is to support businesses in the EXIM community with comprehensive information and resources, fostering environmentally conscious practices and ensuring compliance with e-waste management regulations.
