• Indian Customs Declaration Form’ is revised to include ‘Drones’ in the prohibited and dutiable goods list. Passengers carrying it need to declare in customs form w.e.f. April 1, 2016
  • Central Government also made it mandatory to mention in the customs form about meat, meat products, fish, dairy and poultry products,seeds, plants, fruits, flowers, other planting material carried by the passengers
  • The existing limit of Foreigners’ Duty Allowance increased from Rs. 8,000/- to Rs.15,000/-
  • Limit of bringing cigarettes, cigars and tobacco is doubled to 200 sticks of cigarettes, 50 cigars and 250 gms of tobacco compared to last year
  • There is no change in duty free allowance of up to 2 litres of alcoholic liquor or wines.
  • Revised Duty Free Goods limits (Country wise)*
    • For Indian Passenger coming from China – Changed from Rs 6000/- to Zero
    • Indian passenger coming from Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar –Changed from Rs 6000/- to 15000/-
    • Indian passengers coming from other than above 4 countries –Changed from Rs 45,000/- to Rs 50,000/-.

*The increased limit will be applicable for the journey by air only

  • A cap has been placed by the central government on bringing gold jewellery into India by Indian passengers residing abroad for over one year.
    • 20 gms with a value cap of Rs.50,000/- for male and;
    • 40 gms with a value cap of Rs.1,00,000/- for woman passenger is allowed
  • The above rules will be also applied to the crew members of a vessel or an aircraft and they will be allowed to bring chocolates, cheese,cosmetics and other petty gift for self consumption with a maximum limit of Rs.1,500/-
