As you are all aware the GST is finally in place. Along with all other businesses GST has impacted Exports and Imports in a substantial manner. Import duty calculations have been changed considerably. Exemptions on procurements for Exports, that was a norm, is suddenly not there. Most of the export benefits and incentives are directly affected. The government has been rushing to notify various consequent changes in rules and formats till the very last moment.

Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) of India and various schemes under it which helps exporters and Importers will need significant changes. Though the Government has deferred announcement of new FTP till September, but GST will affect all the ongoing schemes and benefits under them. Suppliers to certain projects that get the benefit of Deemed Exports will also be affected.

While there may be issues of cash flows and sudden changes, GST may overall and in the long-term help in simplifying the procedures and documentation and better neutralizing of input duties.
