PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry had organized a workshop on Exploring Exports Opportunities: Ways to achieve USD 400 Bn exports target in FY 2021-22 with an agenda to highlight the challenges, opportunities, and suggestions for making exporters more competitive during this challenging period. Amongst other eminent speakers, Shri Sanjay Chadha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry was the Guest of Honour.

Mr. Sanjay Beswal, Partner, Andees Consulting LLP had given a brief presentation on Factors Influencing India’s export policy, logistic challenges faced by the exporters and importers and how to overcome this. His presentation also included the typical supply chain and the benefits/export incentives and duties exemptions schemes available under the Foreign Trade Policy. Mr. Beswal also spoke on the various strategies to enhance the exports and the ways not only to achieve the USD 400 Bn export target in FY 2021-22 but also to achieve the goods export target of USD 750 billion by 2027.

World trade is expected to grow by 9.7% in 2021 after a contraction of 8.3% in 2020. The average GDP growth rate for India’s top 25 export destinations is projected at 4.1 per cent in 2021 (According to IMF projections) as compared with the negative growth rate of (-)3.2 % in 2020. With the rapid changes in trade and investment dynamics, India can now seize export opportunities by restoring the supply chain in the coming times.

India’s exports increased more than 74% from USD 75 bn during the period of April to July 2020 to USD 131 billion during April to July 2021. In addition, exports surged by 50.4% in the first week of August FY 2021-22 , bringing the country closer to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s USD 400 billion exports target for FY 2021-22 announced recently. Therefore, to achieve this ambitious target, policymakers are now focusing more on making global value chains more open and rhetoric about reshoring production possibilities. At this juncture, it becomes pertinent to explore the export opportunities and potential to participate more significantly at the global level to enhance India’s exports growth trajectory.

With this backdrop, we are pleased to inform you that the Foreign Trade and Investment Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing a workshop on Exploring Exports Opportunities: Ways to achieve USD 400 Bn exports target in FY 2021-22, on Thursday, 9th September 2021 from 10:00 am to 01:30 pm.
