An Open House Discussion on Revitalizing the Exports Growth Trajectory was organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 27th March 2019, with an aim to discuss the strategy to revitalize India’s exports growth trajectory in the coming years.

The eminent speakers were Shri Rajeev Kher, Former Commerce Secretary and Distinguished Fellow, Research and Information System for Developing Countries, Shri Sanjay Chadha, Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr Ram Upendra Das, Head & Professor, Centre for Research on International Trade (CRIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Shri D K Aggarwal, Senior Vice President, PHD Chamber, Shri Sanjay Aggarwal, Vice President, PHD Chamber, Shri Vijay Mehta, Chairman, Foreign Trade & Investment Committee, PHD Chamber, Shri Sanjay Beswal, Co-Chairman, Foreign Trade and Investment Committee, PHD Chamber, Dr Kavita Sharma, Former Head & Dr Niti Bhasin, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics and Dr S P Sharma, Chief Economist, PHD Chamber.

Mr. Sanjay Beswal, Co-Chairman, Foreign Trade & Investment Committee, PHD Chamber, mentioned about the progress being made by the Government in the recent past in terms of policy reforms, ease of doing exports, infrastructure, among others to boost India’s exports growth trajectory. In view of the strategy to revitalize exports, he highlighted about the small procedural issues that are faced by exporters leading to lower exports growth. He also mentioned that there are still a vast majority of exporters that lack awareness regarding the benefits of the export promotion schemes introduced by the Government. He added that no doubt significant progress has been made but that there are still certain infrastructural bottlenecks which must be addressed for boosting exports growth. Hence, he called for increased interactions between the Industry and the Government.
